  WHERE IS TUCKER CARLSON?   

     Will He Survive the Neocon Management at Fox News?

Friends,

Where is Tucker Carlson? For the last three days he has disappeared from his prime time and highly-rated Fox News program, “Tucker Carlson Tonight!” to be replaced by fill-ins, Mark Steyn (more humorist than commentator) for two nights and Brian Kilmeade (an over-the-top Neoconservative publicist) for Friday.  No explanation—no mention of tending to personal business—no mention of time off for vacation of family.

What is causing some observers of the media to question what’s happening is this: for one entire week prior to the missile attacks launched on Syria by the United States, Britain and France, and even a couple of days afterwards, Carlson had boldly picked apart the rationale and basis for such attacks, demonstrating calmly and factually serious weaknesses, even obvious errors, in the case against the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad as responsible for purported gassing in the village of Douma.

Recall that even the night when the attacks were announced Carlson had been interviewing Colonel (ret.) Douglas MacGregor (PhD, University of Virginia), a noted author and consultant on military affairs, casting serious doubt on the evolving rationale for such an assault. When the news of the missile launch broke around 8:45 p.m., Fox held MacGregor over to the Laura Ingraham program…And then all Hell broke loose, as MacGregor raised the same doubts there. At which point ultra-Neocon guest Sebastian Gorka literally erupted in an unrestrained paroxysm of anger, accusing MacGregor (and by extension, Carlson) of “disloyalty,” “dishonesty,” “ignorance of the facts,” and—of course, “shilling for Russia” (the same accusation that other Neocons have freely made against Carlson, including Max Boot, John McCain’s former geopolitical consultant, and NeverTrumper Bill Kristol, Carlson’s former employer).

Even Ingraham had to caution the unleashed and hysterical Gorka to calm down….

But the message was clear: no one, not even the highly rated Carlson should question, or even be allowed to question, the increasing hegemony of the Neocon honchos attached now to the Trump administration like bloated ticks sucking the blood out of the president’s America First agenda.

Carlson, in addition to his forceful and persuasive counter-arguments on Syria, has also pushed back against other Neocon sacred cows, including on trade (he is deeply critical of the TPP and selectively supports tariffs), Russian relations (he supports closer relations), and immigration (he strongly opposes the McCain-Graham amnesty solution). He has been featured in the pages of the anti-Neocon The American Conservative, as well as in a cover article in the oldest (and probably best) of the anti-Neocon journals, Chronicles (March 2018 issue).

So, the question must be asked: is Tucker Carlson being punished for his independence? Has he gone too far in opposing the Neocon agenda that seems to reign securely on Fox and appears to be exerting a stranglehold there?

Hopefully, not. Hopefully, Carlson’s high ratings and the black eye his removal would mean to the network argue against such action.

But we can remember, as well, that Fox several years ago announced that it would have America Firster, nationally-syndicated columnist Pat Buchanan on for commentary: that occurred probably two or three times before his appearances stopped.

And how many times have we seen, say, a Professor Clyde Wilson, the dean of Southern historians, interviewed on Fox about the Confederacy? Zero times. Instead, we get Kilmeade’s puerile and ignorant neo-Abolitionism and implicit acceptance of the Marxist narrative on race (on the Sunday night program, “Legends & Lies: The Civil War”). 

And why not Professor Paul Gottfried, a leading critic of multiculturalism and Neocon ideas on race and equality, interviewed about the fraudulent creation of the Neocon pseudo-history on civil rights and progress? Never.

We can’t, it seems, have strong and intelligent anti-Neocon views overshadowing the zealous globalism and progressivism (parading as “conservatism”) that so pervades much of the network.

It is permissible to have “rightist” or more “conservative” views on, say, immigration or trade, but challenge the internationalism and imperative to impose democracy and equality here at home and across the face of the globe—add that to the adversarial mixture, and do it convincingly, as Carlson has done—and you should start watching your back…and Rupert Murdoch.

Let’s hope Carlson survives and continues his stellar work, without silencing from Fox.
