Six MY CORNERs Now
Online for the First Time
Friends,
Slowly
but surely I am going back to earlier last year to edit (and sometimes to
correct or update) MY CORNER columns that I wrote then and make them available
online via this blog. Most of them have never been published in any format, so
to preserve them and make them more widely available, I offer now six from last
August (which I’ve massaged a bit to ferret out—I hope—typos and correct any
lapses in my written expression).
Proceeding
from the latest (August 27) to earlier (August 20), these essays address: how
and why the attack on Confederate monuments is just the first step in a broad
and multifaceted assault on the entirety of our Western and Christian culture and
civilization; why given the present condition of the American nation we may be
headed for a real, violent “civil war”; whether Robert E. Lee and the other
Confederates were really “traitors” and what this means for the very
foundations of our constitutional system and the understanding of our history;
what are America’s vital interests—if any—in Afghanistan; the origins of what I
call “world revolution” and the critical role and operations of globalist
George Soros; and lastly, an examination of what is meant by the current calls
for “unity” and the refrain, “can’t we just all get along.”
Although
the titles of these items generally indicate what is covered, in several I go
into broader detail. In fact, I think there is a certain unifying element—a certain
nexus--that links these columns. And behind that, a vision of Western Christian
civilization, of our culture, which is under extreme attack and which is in
danger of disappearing altogether.
If
anything, then, I hope these serve as a kind of “clamor ad caelum”—a cry to
Heaven and an alarm from the rooftops—to inform and arouse, a call to action,
whether that be domestically to simply insure the continuance of the Christian
and traditional family which receives and passes on that inestimable inheritance
deeded to us by our fathers and our ancestors, or whether that may mean a
position of great authority in society or in our culture or politics for
someone dedicated to those traditions—in whatever role, in whatever function,
we find ourselves in.
