And There Couldn’t Be Any More Radical Difference Between What He Reports AND What the Chris Wallace/Fox All-Stars Are Saying

Tucker Carlson—the only television journalist I consistently watch—has done it again. His opening monologue on his program, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” for Monday, January 7, 2019, completed a fascinating two days of watching (selectively) Fox News Channel, with extremes featured by that network that have become even more evident over time. In a sense it was a fitting finale to a full two weeks of radical oscillations by self-proclaimed conservatives over the president’s broader immigration policies.

First, there was Chris Wallace’s highly-touted Sunday news interview program, on Sunday, January 6, where we were treated to his unceasing badgering of White House Press Spokesman, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, about immigration, essentially citing a litany of discredited and strongly disputed “statistics” (e.g., NO terrorists coming across the southern border, NO real crisis there, doesn’t this seem a bit racist, etc.?). And then there was the pompously obtuse (and equally ignorant) “conservative” Never Trumper, Jonah Goldberg—one of two “conservatives” on Wallace’s discussion panel (the other was former Utah representative Jason Chaffetz, whose interventions were basically anodyne).

Wallace’s program increasingly resembles similar “roundtables” on CNN or NBC.

Goldberg’s printed attacks were followed by a notorious and self-promoting screed by Mitt Romney published prominently in The Washington Post, before even taking the oath of office as US senator from Utah. There Mitt (“the Twit”) let his true colors shine forth once again: ah, yes, he was eager for and sought out Donald Trump’s endorsement when running for Senate last year; and after the 2016 election he actually lobbied for the position of secretary of state in a Trump administration. But Romney, who arguably governed as a liberal governor of Massachusetts, made muddled murmurs about being a “conservative” when he ran for president in 2012—his was one of the worst political campaigns in recent American history (only topped by John McCain’s miserable and disgraceful disaster in 2008)—now, finally, once again, revealed his true colors. And they are ugly, foul, and putrid tints—and entirely calculated for personal advancement.

Even Rush Limbaugh unloaded heavily on Mitt on his Monday, January 7, radio program.

As a nation, we have been blessed with presidents who have called on the greatness of the American spirit. With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbent’s shortfall has been most glaring.

I will speak out against significant statements or actions that are divisive, racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, dishonest or destructive to democratic institutions.

…our enduring commitment to principled conduct in foreign relations, and to the rights of all people to freedom and equal justice, was even more esteemed. Trump’s words and actions have caused dismay around the world.

And, although there was push back on Romney’s commentary, most of the criticism was that his remarks were “inopportune” or “inappropriate” at this time.  And there were those in the conservative establishment who openly agreed with him—voices at National Review and others—including columnist Mona Charen: another “Movement Conservative”—a full-fledged open borders member of the “Big Con” (as my friend Dr. Jack Kerwick has denominated them), who endorsed Romney’s views (https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/01/mitt-romney-op-ed-president-trump-character-politics/): “Whatever Romney’s motive may have been in penning the critical op-ed, it’s clear that what he wrote is the truth, which is worth a lot these days.”

After reading Goldberg and Charen, and then watching Wallace and his team of Deep State establishment types tear down the “Wall” that is not even built yet, while, once again impugning President Trump’s motives and facts, it was refreshing to see and hear Carlson, almost 1000 degrees opposite from these Big Con defenders.

So, once again, I offer a portion, the opening monologue of Carlson’s January 7, via Youtube and I strongly urge you to watch the first fourteen minutes or so. He interviews two impressive and well-versed individuals: Mark Morgan, former Chief of the Border Patrol, and Peter Kirsanow of the US Civil Rights Commission. And, as usual, he cuts right to the marrow and central core issues involved, and why our elites, including many—if not most—conservative and Republican elites OPPOSE stronger border security. Take that, Chris Wallace! Smack down to you, Jonah Goldberg and your fellow Never Trumpers! Go ahead, Jonah, and do the logical thing, be honest, and like your friend Max Boot (John McCain’s foreign policy “expert” in 2008) and declare that you are “coming out of the closet” and will now support the Dems.
